HERRNHUT

ABOUT PROJECT

Young Climate Action for World Heritage is an educational project that brings together UNESCO World Heritage themes. As a school involved in the project, we formed a team of five students and went to Herrnhut. Our task was to learn about the history and customs of this German town and to answer the following questions: what does shared heritage mean to us? How can we take responsibility for the sustainable conservation of World Heritage sites? It is obvious that climate protection requires joint international action and to this end we would like to present our work, which is what our visit to Herrnhut inspired us to do.

THE WORK OF THE SCHOOLS

SUPSŠ Kamenický Šenov

For the project we created a series of glass plates with pictures of Herrnut monuments. A series of jewellery inspired by the beautiful atmosphere of the city. And to reach out to the public, we created this website. This is all independent work by SUPSŠ students.

Richard-von-Schlieben-Oberschule Zittau

The school in Zittau is preparing a quiz about Herrnhut, so they repeatedly visit the sights of the town and find out information relevant to their project with the help of experts.

Evangelische Zinzendorfschulen Herrnhut

The Herrnhut school has prepared many interesting and educational podcasts for you. When they are finished, you can find here a link to their work.

OUR WORK

SUPSŠ Kamenický Šenov

GLASS PLATES

I chose to try this engraving method on glass performed by laser technology. We do not use this method in our school very often, but since we have the opportunity to try it, I took the chance. You can transform any picture on glass like this and pictures of buildings on glass look the best! The picture shows better when you paint and clean it afterwards. The laser is not always reliable, however I think that the results look great and I´m happy with them.

JEWELLERY

With my work I was mostly inspired by the Moravian church. The white walls seem so divine in a way. But also the flowers I've seen in the town, combined with the orchard we've been to.
